Synthetic Leather, Braided Cord | 2014
This is the work I submitted to a competition I applied for when I was in high school.
I won the Kobe Mayor's Prize (2nd prize) at the 14th National High School Fashion Design Contest in March 2014.
This dress was made by manually tying a lot of cords.
Kobe is historically a city in Japan with a mixture of Western and foreign cultures, and has Chinatown.
I was very interested in the buttons on the cheongsam I found there, which made me decide to make this dress.
The button is made by a technique called Asian knot. This dress was also created by applying that technique.
This is the design drawing.
The silhouette of the skirt with plenty of tulle is inspired by traditional Western dresses.
It is a perfect design for the city of Kobe, which mixes Asian and Western tastes.
This is a design that makes the wearer look gorgeous.
Earrings and hair jewellery created on the same theme.
