Cotton Handkerchief | 2014
This is a handkerchief that I made when I participated in a dyeing workshop in Kyoto.
I have also experienced dyeing natural materials such as silk yarn and cotton yarn using natural dyes and synthetic dyes.
This handkerchief is made by a method called "shibori- some", in which the fabric is folded and tied with a thread to dye it.
This is the state after folding and tying the fabric and soaked it in the dyeing liquid.
It's very interesting that you don't know what kind of pattern until you spread the fabric.
This is dyed with indigo. I thought that the combination of indigo, and white the original color of the fabric, would give a very cool impression.
It would be nice to have a linear motif that complements it, so I folded it into a bellows shape and dyed it.
Finally, I was satisfied with this pattern, which looks like a square crystal.
