Mizuhiki | 2018
This work was won a prize in November 2018 in a competition called Costume Jewelry Award.
It was also exhibited at the CREATIVA 2019 PerlenExpo in Dortmund, Germany.
Participants were given the theme of "Japanese beauty" in this competition.
So I decided to make earrings from a material called Mizuhiki, which has been used for a long time in Japan.
I tied string of mizuhikis to create a flower-shaped part.
The three-dimensional flower parts are combined in a ring parts, so the design sways according to the movement of the wearer.
This is Mizuhiki. Mizuhiki is a string made of paper and is used for wrapping in Japan.
In the old days, it was also used to tie hair.
The design is inspired by snowflakes, so I used silver glittering mizuhiki and gave it the title of "snow flower."
Although it seems a heavy design, Mizuhiki is made of paper, so it is a very light earring that does not burden your ears.
